The American consulate is also called “US Consulate Amsterdam.” This representation of the United States is located at Museumplein in Amsterdam. At this location, all consular issues are handled, and visas are granted.
People who wish to travel to the United States of America usually do not need to make an appointment at a consulate or embassy because they can use an ESTA instead of a visa.
Only travelers who do not meet the ESTA requirements must apply for a visa, and an appointment must always be made with the US Consulate. The reason that every traveler actually has to come to the US Consulate for a visa is that biometric data is taken, including fingerprints. An interview is also held before each visa, in which the intentions are to travel into the United States.
