We can apply for this visa for you. After the consulate has accepted the visa application, it should be ready after 4 or 5 working days.
The validity and the maximum number of days you can stay in Iraq depend on the Iraqi government’s invitation that your client in Iraq gets arranged for you.
The documents that are required for your visa

1 x fully completed and signed visa application form. This form must:
- Digitally filled in correctly with the computer, the embassy does not accept handwritten forms
- For the question “Place of Issuing Visa”, you must fill in “Embassy of Iraq, the Hague.”
- Print on one side
- Be signed by the passport holder
- Your passport.
- We need to have the passport physically, so no copy.
- Your passport must still be valid for at least 6½ months after the validity of the visa (ie one and a half year valid if it is an annual visa).
- The passport must have at least two blank facing visa pages.
- One color passport photo.
- Note that these photos are according to the Dutch standard of ‘passport photo’, that is to say, looking forward, white background, do not laugh and do not show teeth.
- Wearing glasses in the photo is not permitted
- Nine times out of ten, the consulate does not accept a photo from your own printer. If you do so, make sure you use gloss paper and there are no stripes visible from the print.
- Do not staple the photo to the application form, but rather use a Pritt stick. If you do not have a Pritt stick, please include your loose photo and we will attach it to the form for you.
- Do not stick the photos with adhesive tape
Other conditions that you must pay extra attention to:
- The photos may not be older than 3 months
- The photos may not be the same as on the passport unless the passport is not older than 3 months
- The photos must have a white background.
- A copy of the passport of the applicant
- Note that you also need to provide the original passport as requested on this page
The latest or most recent information
Contact your airline and discuss whether you can fly to this country with your nationality. Some nationalities will not be able to enter the country during the pandemic. The airlines are always the most recent information. Country rules related to the pandemic can sometimes change to the extreme on a day-to-day basis.
Travel Restrictions
- Access is allowed for all tourist, business and work purposes.
Entry and Health Requirements
- All travellers over the age of five must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued no more than 72 hours before departure.
- Everyone must self-quarantine for 10 – 14 days in a government-designated facility or self-quarantine
- All travellers must undergo a COVID-19 test on arrival at their own expense
- All travellers must complete a health declaration upon arrival
Domestic Regulations & Regulations
- Mouth caps are mandatory in all public areas and public transport
- There may be a nationwide curfew
- The use of public transport may be prohibited. Consult with your contacts in the country for current information
Transit Restrictions
- Transit travellers must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued no more than 72 hours before departure.
For a work visa, you need an invitation from the Iraqi government. The Iraqi government determines the validity and number of entries of the visa you will receive in the Netherlands.
- The workers invited or employed by a state-owned enterprise (oil, gas and light) generally do not require additional approval from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. To be sure, have the company in Iraq check whether they might need additional permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- All other companies that want to bring employees from the Netherlands to Iraq need an invitation from the government and permission from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs!
You need a medical certificate from your doctor
This certificate must:
- It must state you don’t have HIV or other infectious diseases. If you have HIV, you are not allowed to travel to Iraq to work
- Must describe all the medications you are taking
- Must not have handwritten corrections or adjustments
- Must be fully completed and signed by a medical specialist or doctor in the Netherlands
- Must be written in English
- Blood test results
- Before using this statement for the visa application, this certificate must be legalized by the CIBG, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Iraq’s Embassy, so apply for the visa.

For the EU or Schengen country nationalities:
If nationality comes from an EU or Schengen country (not for a Dutch passport), you must show that you are registered in the Netherlands.
You have two options;
- Option 1: a copy of the front- and backside of your residence permit.
- Option 2: a copy of the extract from the population register (GBA).

Other nationalities from outside the EU or Schengen countries:
- You need a copy of your Dutch residence permit’s front- and back-side for all nationalities from outside the EU and Schengen countries.
