Since the arrival of the new diplomat in November, the procedure at the consulate has been different from what you are used to. For example, you have two people who sign the invitation in Ghana. The urgent procedure is no longer ready the same day but two business days later. This urgent procedure rule also includes when you apply for the visa personally.

Processing time at the consulate: 1 week

The urgent procedure: 2 business days

Note: Ghanaian and Dutch national holidays are not considered business days!

The documents that are required for your visa

  • Your passport.
  • We need to have the passport physically, so no copy.
  • Your passport must still be valid for at least 6½ months after the validity of the visa (ie one and a half year valid if it is an annual visa).
  • The passport must have at least two blank facing visa pages.
  • One color passport photo.
  • Note that these photos are according to the Dutch standard of ‘passport photo’, that is to say, looking forward, white background, do not laugh and do not show teeth.
  • Wearing glasses in the photo is not permitted
  • Nine times out of ten, the consulate does not accept a photo from your own printer. If you do so, make sure you use gloss paper and there are no stripes visible from the print.
  • Do not staple the photo to the application form, but rather use a Pritt stick. If you do not have a Pritt stick, please include your loose photo and we will attach it to the form for you.
  • Do not stick the photos with adhesive tape

Other conditions that you must pay extra attention to:

  • The photos may not be older than 3 months
  • The photos may not be the same as on the passport unless the passport is not older than 3 months
  • The photos must have a white background.
  • A booking confirmation of your flight (return ticket)
  • The consulate wants to see when you enter the country and go out again
  • It may be a booking for a flight, bus, train, boat
  • Your name must be mentioned on it
  • The consulate must recognize the confirmation as being that it comes from a travel agency or an airline.
  • A confirmation of a flight by a customer of your will not be accepted because the consulate will say that anyone can do this. Think of logos, photos or other features that an official confirmation of an airline by mail in general meets
  • Our advice, make sure you take out cancellation insurance when purchasing your flight. In the event that you do not receive your visa, you will not suffer any financial

For the visa application, you must be vaccinated against yellow fever. You must enclose a copy of the yellow booklet, within the valid stamp that you have been vaccinated against yellow fever.

Our advice: ask the GGD or your doctor whether further vaccinations are needed for this country. But for the visa application is the vaccination against yellow fever sufficient.

Features of this application system

  • When filling in your details, pay attention to the passport number (top right corner of your passport information page) and the validity of your passport. These two details appear on the visa. If one of the two details is not correct on the visa, the visa application must be applied for and paid again.
  • After completing the application form, you cannot go back into the system for a correction.
  • You must make an appointment at the end to complete and complete the application form.
  • If you go to the consulate in person, you must come on the day of the appointment because you cannot show up earlier than the scheduled appointment date. If you do not make an appointment, you will not be able to complete the application form. Even if the appointment falls on a date when you are already in Ghana, you should make an appointment. Calling the consulate is useless!
  • If we apply for your visa, we will go directly to the consulate as soon as we receive your application. Unlike you, we are not bound by the appointment date you have made!
