You do not need to apply for a visa before going on vacation to the Maldives.

All tourists, of all nationalities, can get a visa for 30 days for free upon arrival in the Maldives.

To obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at Male International Airport, you must:

• Have a valid passport with Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) and must be valid for at least 6 months.
• A return flight ticket, or a flight ticket to another destination, for departure within 30 days of arrival.

• *Proof of sufficient funds to cover your expenses in the Maldives (minimum US $ 100 + US $ 50 per day, evidenced by cash or bank statement).

You can extend your visa, for 30 days upon arrival, by 60 days by applying directly to Maldives Immigration.

You must do this before your 30-day visa expires.
