The documents that are required for your visa

A visa on arrival is only intended for specific nationalities and for the following purposes:

  • Tourism
  • Transit through Thailand
  • Not all nationalities are exempt from tourism and transit/ or visa on arrival.

Please note that you always need a visa for a visit to Thailand, unless you are traveling for another reason (other than tourism or transit). Do not go to Thailand without a visa if you are not going for tourism or transit, otherwise you may run into trouble!

As a tourist or in transit/transit, you can get/buy a 30-day visa on arrival. Travelers who use the visa on arrival rule may extend their stay and visa in Thailand once by 15 or 30 days. If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, it is better to apply for a visa with us before traveling to Thailand. In this case, you apply for a 60-day visa, which you can extend by 30 days. The 60-day tourist visa can also be officially extended by 30 days. But be aware, if the immigration officer does not want to extend the visa, you must leave the country. The same rule applies to the 30-day visa on arrival.

Upon arrival by plane, you can buy the 30-day visa on arrival. Over land (land border) you will receive a maximum of a 14-day visa on arrival, limited to 2 times per calendar year.

It is very important to take your tickets into account:

Only for tourism:

  • After leaving Thailand, your passport must still be valid for at least six months.
  • The passport must contain two adjacent blank visa pages.
  • You must have a confirmed exit permit for a maximum of 90 days. Otherwise, you will probably not be allowed into the country!
  • You may not have an open ticket. Otherwise, you will not be allowed into the country!
  • It may be necessary to show that you have at least € 1250,- per person to spend during your stay in Thailand.

Additional conditions for transit through Thailand:

  • After leaving Thailand, your passport must still be valid for at least six months.
  • The passport must contain two adjacent blank visa pages.
  • You must have a confirmed exit permit. Otherwise, you will not be allowed into the country.
  • Travel by land, train, bus etc. to Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia (also en route to Singapore), Myanmar etc. can be accepted as proof of departure from Thailand.
  • It may be necessary to show that you have at least € 1250,- per person to spend during your stay in Thailand.
  • If you want to stay longer than 30 days, go back to the main page of our website and choose the right visa. Then send us the correct documents to arrange the right visa for you.
